What Should You Pack in Your Dental Emergency Kit While Traveling

Posted .

At Oxford Lakes Dental Care located in Oxford, Michigan, many of our patients enjoy traveling during the summer months, whether to visit extended family, explore our mountain desert by road trip, or getting on a plane to check off destinations from a bucket list. To make the most of your travel experience, we encourage you to pack a dental emergency kit in case something arises and you can’t get to a dentist.

Dr. Daniel Sahutske & Dr. Donna Sahutske feel that preparedness and consistency are important for maintaining a healthy smile. This means keeping up with established oral health habits even when you are on vacation. For example, daily brushing and flossing shouldn’t take a holiday just because you are! At least not if you want a healthy smile.

A dental emergency kit will help to bring you peace of mind while you are away. We have found the following items to be useful to include in your dental emergency kit:

Basic Dental Emergency Kit

— Supplies: Dental picks, sterile gauze pads, cotton, tweezers, dental mirror or handheld mirror, cold pack, antimicrobial skin wipes.
— Toothache & pain: Over-the-counter painkillers and oral antiseptic.
— Loose crown, filling or braces: Petroleum jelly, temporary fillings, dental wax.
